In Berhampur, the family of Santosh Behera has been engulfed in sorrow for almost two weeks. The 40-year-old laborer from Rengitipalli village, located in the Purusottampur police jurisdiction of Ganjam district, has not returned home after embarking on a train journey from Kerala.
The last communication from Santosh occurred on September 10 while he was aboard the Kanniyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Superfast Express (22503). Since the next day, his phone has been unreachable, and there has been no word from him. This sudden disappearance has left his wife, Gayatri, and their family devastated.
With tears streaming down her face, Gayatri pleaded, "Someone please find my husband and bring him back." She has been tirelessly visiting various offices in search of assistance. The family has reached out to the District Collector, the district labor department, the Government Railway Police in Berhampur, and local law enforcement, but progress has been minimal.
Santosh's absence is particularly hard on the family, as he was the only surviving son among four siblings and the primary provider. He supported not only his wife and children but also his elderly mother and the families of his three late brothers. Due to limited job opportunities in their village, he had sought work in Kerala, sending money back home to sustain the large family.
The villagers have rallied together, urging the Ganjam district administration and the Odisha government to take swift action to locate him.
